I couldn't believe it when I first saw it, it was stunning! It was so so blue! Well, more like aqau, such a crazy rich color that you really can't believe until you see it yourself!
Our entire week was just a blast, just the right amount of entertainment and fun, just the right amount of relaxing. It's so strange down there weather wise too! It's really quite hot, and VERY humid. I could actually feel damp on my skin most of the time. But the strange thing is, I didn't feel that hot. It was just perfect! I could even wear jeans in the evening and not get hot at all. Completely unexpected!
So day one, Saturday I guess. We flew in at 10:30 I think it was. I'm not too too sure of the time, because I was disgustingly sick the whole flight. I won't gross you out with the gory details, but I was sick until we got to our hotel a half hour away from the airport in
So the next day, Sunday, I guess was our official first day. It was beautiful there! We pretty much relaxed on the beach that whole day, and went to an introductory thing that afternoon so this guy could tell us about all the stuff we could do there. We all decided on a trip to Havana (the capital city) on Friday, and the Tropicana Veradero show on Tuesday night, the night before the wedding. It's basically their Cabaret type show, very colorful and musical. It was really interesting. They tried to incorporate some stuff from other countries, but I found their own style the best, the most interesting. Monday was pretty much a shopping day, we took these little 2 seater "taxis" into the city. The taxis were basically motorbikes that were shaped like little pods, the front was open where the driver was and then the back was sort of enclosed. They were really fun, and we ended up taking them around a few more times on the trip. I don't have pics of them here, but there will be some on fb when I can get that up.
The first 3 days were pretty much the same, relaxing, checking out the flea market, more relaxing. Our hotel was all inclusive, and there was a little hut surrounded by the pools where they had
So anyway, since i can't have them (maybe not ever again =( I'll get on with the rest of the week. Sorry if this is super long, but I need to write down all the details, I don't want to forget anything!
Wednesday, we had the priviledge of going to the wedding of our good friends, Rob and Sarah (who are on their honeymoon on a cruise in the Mediterranean right now, grumble grumble!) and it was the perfect day, not a cloud in the sky, a nice breeze, and the bride looked stunning! I know I'm repeating adjectives, I'm not creative enough to think up or make up new ones. So you'll just have to deal with it ; )
The wedding was flawless, no fights broke out, no one was hurt, the food was delicious, the cake was beautiful, the only hitch was trying to get the bride to keep her eyes open in the crazy bright Cuba sun for all of the pics!
So the next day, very hot as well, but with a few clouds to ease the sun a bit. The waves were fantastic! Very big! Me and Amanda went back into
Friday was our Havana day. Havana is really an amazing city. It's very big, I forget what the population was, but it was crazy as we were driving around thinking about how many people are packed in there. Everywhere you look there are stone buildings and houses and apartments with clothes lines strung everywhere in between.
There were these ladies walking around everywhere who had very bright dresses on and big flowery hats. They were selling flowers and paper cones full of peanuts. If you wanted to get a picture taken with them, it was 2 pesos. Except for this lady, she was just loving life and everyone who took her picture! I love the big toothless grin she gave me, what a cute little lady!
There was alot of interesting things to see, we went to the government buildings and saw where Fidel makes his speeches ( I actually stood in the same place that he does), we saw tons of old churches, and went inside one. It was so beautiful inside! Very old but amazing detail in everything! All the stone carvings, and wood, the murals up in the dome, the gold details, the chandeliers, it was breathtaking! The most interesting thing I saw was this guy sitting on the steps just outside the church. He was talking to a couple people, but he was absolutely COVERED in piercings! I mean his
After our tour, we went to the flea market in Havana as our last stop, then back to the resort.
Saturday we didn't fly out until 10:30 that night, so we had the whole day to kill. Which isn't hard on a beach in Cuba!
Our trip back consisted of the 3 hour flight
